
Jason N. (Bakwoods BBQ head chef) grew up in Dumas, Arkansas which has a natural “southern country home” feeling and atmosphere. He grew up in a family that owned various bars and restaurants in the area which is where he originally learned the art of southern culinary. Just like with a majority of southern cuisine, most like to consider the food there “down home” cooking. As it comes as a known tradition for southern families to instill the lessons of the kitchen to their children, he was able to take what he learned from his family and pursue his own business with smoking meats (wild or domestic) and selling BBQ in 2014.
Audrie M. was born and raised in Dallas, TX. As she comes from a big family, it was second nature to know the etiquette of southern hospitality. Over the years, she discovered within herself, that she had a passion for and could always find a way to help others and achieve the ultimate goal of entrepreneurship. She came from a long line of family members that had their success and failures in life and business which helped mold her into the motivated business woman she is today. While she has had her success in various industries over the years, she currently is the owner of and operates her own tax office (as well as is a prominent member in the industry for 8 years). In 2020, Ms. McHenry collaborated with Mr. Nash to help brand and build the ‘Bakwoods way’. It was a necessary transition once they both found their strengths in the business and came together to build the team they are today. While Mr. Nash is the head chef, Ms. McHenry handles the management and operations.

Volunteering Experience: Community service with Minnes Food Pantry in Dallas, TX – where they load and package food for community members and families in need. The team also hosts various drives every year (i.e. coat drives, food drives, toy drives, blanket drives, etc.)
Professional Affiliations: Bakwoods is a member of various groups within the industry such as (Facebook Groups included): DFW Foodery Group; The Real Fooderies of Fort Worth; Urban Eats; Fort Worth Fooderies; Small Businesses of Dallas/Ft. Worth.
Plans: To build Bakwoods as a family brand while employing outstanding members of society within the area and help the growth of the community. Within the next 5 to 10 years, our intentions are to enhance the efforts in building and working with a team to establish a success formula for all those affiliated with the business and our families. Just as families grow over generations and time, so will Bakwoods.
